Pettigrew State Park
Fishing! Paddling! Hiking! Biking! Camping! Relaxing! Choose your activity for Pettigrew State Park. By land or water, one can explore 16,000-acre Lake Phelps and its surrounding landscape. The fishing is legendary and boaters with kayaks, canoes and shallow-draft boats will find easy launch sites. Nearby access allows boaters onto the placid, blackwaters of the Scuppernong River. Hikers and bikers will find some of the oldest, most majestic trees in the coastal region as they hike and bike the winding trails. Bikes are allowed on most trails. A 13-site family campground and group campground are close to park amenities. Take in some history with a display of ancient American Indian Dugout canoes and the grave of a Confederate general.
